Dr Stephen van der Mye, Chair of Advisory Board and Centre Director
Dr Stephen van der Mye, Honorary Adjunct Professor, brings an extensive background as an Executive Director, Managing Direct and Non-Executive Director in a variety of organisations covering agribusiness; banking and financial services; biotechnology and life sciences; electrical equipment; health administration; mining and mineral processing; infrastructure and utility services; retail and wholesale services; and university and vocational education. His experience in these sectors covers listed and unlisted public companies; government business organisations; large and small proprietary companies; not-for-profit enterprises; and other business associations both onshore and offshore.
Stephen's interests lie in the areas of corporate and enterprise governance, from both a compliance and performance perspective, including strategic thinking; financial management; operational planning; organisational structures; performance monitoring; risk identification and mitigation; and prudential supervision.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours); Master of Business Law (Distinction) and a Doctor of Philosophy all from the University of NSW. Stephen is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, CPA Australia, The Governance Institute of Australia, and a member of Chartered Accountants in New Zealand.
Mr Gary Brady, Centre Director
Gary Brady has been a company director since 1998. His board and committee experience include appointments in aged and community care; professional services; tertiary sector; and manufacturing. His executive experience spans a career in ASX20 companies BHP and James Hardie; as a Managing Partner in business advisory; and the tertiary sector. He is currently the Business Director of the Faculty of Law at Bond University. Gary has specialist interest areas in strategy development; financial management; audit & risk; marketing communication; contract law, research funding; community engagement, government liaison, and philanthropic giving, and has broad industry exposure and networks across government, industry, community and not for profit.
Gary is currently a Commissioner and Non-Executive Director of Anglicare Southern Queensland; Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee; and a member of the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane Audit and Risk Committee. He is also the Editor of the Enterprise Governance e-Journal.
Gary holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland; a Master of Business in Marketing from the University of Technology Sydney and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.

Susan Campbell is currently the Company Secretary/Legal Counsel at Queensland Sugar Limited "QLS" (export sugar marketer/port operator), having joined QLS in late 2013. From 2000 onwards, Susan has held a number of equivalent positions, including Ergon Energy and North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation.
Susan started her legal career in Tier 1 private practice specialising in commercial and corporate law. Susan is broadly experienced in commercial and corporate law, corporate governance, and company secretarial skills across a number of industry sectors, in particular infrastructure and agribusiness. This experience includes the design and implementation of corporate governance frameworks and the effective management of the Company Secretariat Office for Directors. Susan has a particular interest in ESG issues.
Kathryn Dickson has 27 years of experience in the education sector; leading financial and operational teams in the delivery of governance, risk management, employment relations, ICT, facilities, and infrastructure projects as well as leading in change management and service delivery programs in the not-for-profit sector.
Kathy has a skill set covering accounting, strategic management, leadership, risk management, corporate governance and continuous operational and financial improvement. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Master of Labour Law and Relations, Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
George Hrivnak is the Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching and an Associate Professor of Management in the Bond Business School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master of Arts in Adult Learning and Instruction Design and a PhD in Management and Organizational Psychology. Prior to joining academia, George spent more than 12 years working in industry, with extensive experience in leading a variety of organisational change projects, fostering his practical interest in improving individual and collective capacities to learn and develop.
Vanessa is an accomplished Executive HR Leader with over 20 years of experience across government, not-for-profit and private sectors. She has a proven track record in understanding and driving business performance outcomes within complex environments.
Vanessa has expertise in a broad range of HR/IR disciplines with a special interest in the areas of developing and maintaining relationships, selection and recruitment, long-term strategy development, project management, performance management frameworks, workplace diversity, organisational design and restructures.
She is passionate about building relationships and getting the best out of people. With collaboration a priority, Vanessa has led and successfully delivered many complex HR projects both nationally and internationally.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Management from the Queensland University of Technology and is a trained mediator and negotiator. Vanessa is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and a certified practitioner with the Australian Human Resources Institute (CAHRI).
Professor Brenda Marshall is currently Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chair of Academic Senate at Bond University. She holds undergraduate degrees in law and commerce and postgraduate qualifications in law, and her research expertise is in the area of competition and consumer law. Her published work, which focuses on topics such as misuse of market power, cartel behaviour, misleading or deceptive conduct and unconscionable dealings, has appeared in a range of general and specialist journals in Australia and overseas. She also has extensive experience in the application of academic governance in higher education.
Melanie Mayne-Wilson, has a Communication degree, over twenty years of experience in senior executive roles providing strategic communications counsel to boards and executive teams, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. Melanie has particular expertise in assisting organisations to enhance and protect their corporate reputations and social license to operate, with particular experience in health, tourism, governance, fundraising, and the not-for-profit sectors.
Melanie is currently the General Manager, Marketing, Fundraising, Digital and Tourism for the iconic Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern). She was previously the QLD State Manager for the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the largest governance Institute in the world. In 2016, Melanie joined the Board of PACT, funded by the QLD Department of Justice, to support vulnerable witnesses through the QLD courts.
Ginette has 25 years of experience in commercial advisory, including as a Chartered Accountant and registered liquidator, she has been involved in all aspects of corporate administration. Ginette focusses on financial distress and disruption in which she advises stakeholders embroiled in difficult commercial circumstances. Such a role requires the ability to analyse complex matters whilst accepting the responsibility to make judgments.
In her current role as a Partner in a major insolvency and turnaround practice, Ginette advises clients regarding the ever-changing insolvency and turnaround regulatory environment within which companies operate whilst being aware of the social and cultural drivers present in our business entities.
