Professional biography

Alessandra is an International Relations scholar and educator whose research sits at the intersection of Critical Cultural and Heritage Studies, global governance, and diplomacy. Her scholarly work examines how culture, power, and knowledge are mobilised within international policy and governance contexts, with particular attention to intangible cultural heritage, plural epistemologies, and the politics of inclusion. At Bond University, Alessandra teaches and coordinates subjects across International Relations, Communications, and Australian Studies, integrating experiential learning, simulations, and applied policy analysis into her pedagogy. Her creative practice and long-standing engagement with the arts continue to inform her research and teaching.

Alongside her academic career, Alessandra brings substantial cross-sectoral experience in government, diplomacy, and international program delivery. She has worked in research and advisory roles within diplomatic settings, including the Embassy of Japan, and coordinated DFAT-supported executive education under the Mekong–Australia Partnership, working closely with international delivery partners. She has also held senior program and project management roles in the NSW Government and within European Commission–funded international research consortia, where she led monitoring, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and policy-aligned program design.
