Mobile Storytelling

This hands-on microcredential course empowers you to use smartphones for professional filmmaking and digital content creation. The course keeps pace with established and emerging digital technologies and aligns with how they are being applied in an industry that is constantly evolving and reshaping itself to meet consumer needs. You will exploit mobile technologies to create compelling digital narratives – across platforms – in which the story (and user) are central.

This course is for anyone who wants to use smartphones and mobile workflows for video storytelling; from the novice with little to no broadcast experience, to seasoned video practitioners. It is structured logically so each module informs the next: from essential mobile gear and how to use it, and what apps to use and how to use them, to planning, filming and editing the story in a mobile-only workflow.

The course is presented as a series of instructional videos, interviews with working mobile journalists from around the globe, textual and visual information, links, practical examples, and exercises.

This course is available to complete online at any time via our high-quality learner platform. The self-paced delivery gives you the flexibility to work around your other commitments.
