Master of Laws in Family Dispute Resolution

Gain Accreditation as a Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP)

The Master of Laws in Family Dispute Resolution (LLM(FDR)) offered by the Faculty of Law at Bond University focuses on the impact of separation and divorce on families, as well as the management and resolution of post-separation parenting and property disputes.

The program is available to both law and non-law graduates who are graduates of a designated 'appropriate degree' under the Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner) Regulations 2008 (Cth).  Non-law graduates interested in studying the Master of Laws in Family Dispute Resolution will be professionals with qualifications working in psychology and social work, such as counsellors, social workers and psychologists who wish to enhance their knowledge, skills and strategies in family dispute resolution.

Studying the Master of Laws in Family Dispute Resolution is ideal for appropriately qualified professionals who wish to become an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) as the course satisfies the requirements for the National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) and the requirements for registering as an FDRP with the Federal Attorney General's Department.

In addition to accreditation as an FDRP and NMAS accredited mediator, the Master of Laws (FDR) program equips students with specialist knowledge and skills in negotiation, other dispute resolution processes and special issues for FDR practice such as vulnerable parties and ethics.
