Research interests

My research interests include; sport governance – especially within Australia, sport regulation, high performance sport issues and the Olympic Games. My interest in these areas stems from my time 12 years working in high performance sport in Australia, with organisations such as the NSW Institute of Sport, The Australian Institute of Sport and Australian Canoeing, and with sports such as Swimming, Gymnastics and Sprint Canoe. I have managed teams at World Championships level, and was the gymnastics section manager on the Australian Olympic team in Beijing in 2008. My role with Gymnastics and Australian Canoeing involved the implementation of structures and systems to ensure accountability and good governance. In addition I have prepared strategic plans, high performance plans and assisted NSOs fulfil ASC requests.

I have previously been a Director on the Board of Sliding Sports Australia (2013-2018), and currently I am a Director on the Board of Paddle Australia, and the Vice President on the Board of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ).

My focus area is on the management of high performance sport programs, especially Olympic sport. Areas include sport governance and policy, athlete well-being, coach education, anti-doping, high performance sport systems and government relationships with sport organisations. Furthermore, I am interested in collaborating with Law academics to blend sport governance and management concerns with that of regulation and law.
