Bond Law appoints distinguished professor

Professor Dr Ingeborg Schwenzer, LLM, Dean of the Swiss International Law School (SiLS) and Professor (em) at Basel University, Switzerland, has been appointed an Honorary Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Law.

Professor Dr Schwenzer is acknowledged as an international expert in the field of international sales and contract law. She is the chair of the CISG Advisory Council. She has authored numerous books and more than 250 articles on the law of obligations and commercial arbitration, as well as family law, and is the editor of and main contributor to the world’s leading commentary on the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

She has been a visiting scholar and adjunct professor at leading institutions across the world.

In 2014 she set up the innovative Swiss International Law School, and engaged leading legal scholars and practitioners from a variety of jurisdictions to contribute to the development and delivery of the world’s first online, truly international LLM.

Professor Schwenzer is now overseeing the transfer of this innovative program to Bond University.

Bond University’s Faculty of Law Executive Dean, Professor Nick James announced the appointment of Professor Schwenzer as a significant development for Bond University as a whole and for the Faculty of Law in particular.

“The Faculty is honoured and privileged to be associated with a legal scholar of such a high calibre,” he said.

“Professor Dr Schwenzer is very highly regarded by legal scholars across both common law and civil law jurisdictions and I am delighted that she will be working closely with me and members of our Faculty to develop and deliver an innovative online LLM that draws upon her own considerable expertise as well as the expertise of renowned legal scholars from around the world.”
