GMBA70-106: Business Model Design

This subject focuses on the acquisition of a comprehensive business model design method for developing new businesses or for changing strategies for existing businesses. Various points, such as core products and services, revenue models and value chain construction, must be examined for giving birth to a new business. In this subject, students learn how to design individual elements and how to link all those elements and design a business comprehensively after understanding the outline and interrelations of those various elements that comprise a business model. Business model design requires two tools. One is precisely understanding about what we call a business model. In this subject, students learn how they should design various elements based on a technique called the Business Model Canvas. The other tool is a creative and comprehensive thinking technique for solving problems; in other words, design thinking. Design means building items and mechanisms that function for the achievement of targets, instead of activities for producing external beauty. Hence, design thinking is a system of various thinking methods for achieving targets. This is an extremely useful thinking technique for building a business model. The acquisition of design thinking is one of the goals set for this subject. In this subject, students learn those techniques based on their practice.
