Safety in Sport: Governance, Systems, Rights

Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Sport

Safety in Sport: Governance, Systems, Rights

Now in its 14th year, the 2024 Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Sport examines the topic "Safety in Sport: Governance, Systems, Rights".  Our aim is to examine this topic from a multitude of perspectives and develop insights that transcend disciplinary boundaries and translate into effective and improved outcomes.

Accessing and delivering a sports system that prioritises safety and an optimally safe sports system are central to measuring sporting success and the sustainable development of sport. Threats to safety, exclusive practices, egregious harm to vulnerable participants, governance failures and falling short of community expectations erodes a sport’s social licence to operate.  Colloquium 2024 examines these themes and aims to develop understandings that translate to key takeaways.

We are delighted that our Chancellor, The Honourable Dr Annabelle Bennett AC SC will open the Colloquium.  We are also delighted that Sport Integrity Australia headline our keynote presentations with Lisa Purves, Director of Safeguarding and Nikki Dryden, Human Rights Advisor sharing their expertise and perspectives.
