Rep duties deplete Bull Sharks ahead of Titans derby

It’s derby week as the Bull Sharks prepare for the “Clash with the Titans 2” at Carrara Indoor Sports Complex.

Sapphire Series coach Rebecca Stower will have to call on some help from the Ruby squad after losing several key players ton representative duties.

Sapphire Series

Last time they met:

Rd 2, 2024

Bull Sharks won 50 – 48.

Where it will be won:

Our playing roster will be depleted this weekend due to the Suncorp Super Reserves and the Pacific Netball Series. Our full-court defensive pressure must be exceptional to counter the Titans' fast transitional attack.

One to watch:

We are aiming for a strong team effort this week, with solid connections across the court.

The focus:

The Titans are known for their physicality and aggressive body contests. We need to play smart, prepare thoroughly, and avoid letting them engage us physically.

Shuffling the magnets:

We will be without Mia Stower (Sunshine Coast Lightning), Sasha-May Flegler (QLD Firebirds) and Jayden Molo (First Nations, Pacific Netball Series). We will bring up two Ruby players to sit the bench.

The final word:

Missing key players presents a challenge we've been preparing for. We've developed a versatile team of 11 with flexible playing combinations, and it's now up to the girls to rise to the occasion this week.

Ruby Series

Last time they met:

Round 2, 2024.

Bull Sharks won 47 - 39

Where it will be won:

We’re looking for a full team defensive effort this week.

The focus:

Staying in the game for the full 60 mins and true to our style of game. The Titans are a very physical team, and we will need to stick to our game plan 100 per cent to be able to take the win this week.

Shuffling the magnets:

We will be without last week’s MVP and captain Harriet Nicholson who is out with an ankle injury she suffered in the Panthers game last week.

The final word:

We are really looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd for the first time this year.

With Kim Boland.
