Bond University throwing specialist Isabella Simonelli has risen to the occasion to produce a season’s best with the hammer at the UniSport National Athletics Championships.

The soon-to-be physiotherapist threw 56.21 metres when it mattered most to take silver behind regular rival Lauren Clark from University of Notre Dame.

Her throw secured Bond University’s first medal at the event.

She’ll today look to go one better in the women’s discus.

Simonelli credits the Bond community for her inspired performance.

“It’s really special putting on the Bond uniform, it gives me such a strong sense of pride,” she said.
