The Bull Sharks Premier Women celebrated Ladies Day at The Canal by defeating Brothers while Colts 1 are now a win away from a guaranteed finals berth after strong victory.
It was heartbreak for the Premier Men who conceded a penalty in the dying moments to lose 42-40.
Colts 1
Bull Sharks won 41-24
Where it was won:
We gained the ascendancy up front. The foundations were laid at the set piece, and we were rewarded with multiple scrum penalties that allowed us to kick to corners and set up maul drives which resulted in three tries.
The highlight:
It has to be Blake Raymond’s intercept to score a 70m try under the posts.
What made you happy:
I was really pleased with our accuracy. We recorded over 90 per cent line out and scrum success. And we took our opportunities when they were presented.
The work to do:
Discipline will be a weekly work on. We are seeing that if we get this right, we limit the opposition’s ability to score points.
Bull Sharks football:
It is the set piece for us. We are starting to realise how dominant we can be in this area, it’s certainly a weapon for us moving forward.
Trademark player: Will Carter, he’s a menace on the field and chops down any opponent that comes his way.

Bull Sharks won 19-0
Where it was won:
It was a very scrappy game for us and there really wasn't any area we dominated. We just managed to tough it out in the end for the win.
What made you happy:
Getting the win despite not performing well as a team.
The work to do:
We need to find the right combinations heading into next week's tough game against Easts.
Trademark player:
Grace Baker showed why she's a Reds representative. She had a high work rate both with and without the ball and was strong in controlling the lineout.

Bull Sharks lost 42-40.
The final moments:
It was a little bit of a lack of knowledge on the laws. We should have been a bit more proactive in making the catch off their kick-off instead of letting it bounce. All we had to do was take possession and put the ball into touch and we would have won. Instead they gained possession and we gave away a penalty trying to defend. It was a hard lesson to learn.
Where it was won:
We were a little ill-disciplined with our use of the ball. They dominated possession and we were under the pump defensively.
What made you happy:
We scored three tries in the last ten minutes to give ourselves a chance to win the game and the kick from Hamish that put us in front was very good. It shows us that if we can keep making improvements on the other areas of our game, we have the firepower to beat most teams.
The highlight:
The try Joel Brown scored to put us one point behind was a highlight. There were plenty of good signs we just didn’t hold onto the ball for long enough.
The work to do:
We can’t make the finals now, so it is about sticking to the same processes that have got us close to the top teams this year. We play two of the top teams in the last few rounds so that is a good test for us.
Trademark Player:
Freddy Dorough had one of his best games for the season. He was very good in his role at steering the side around the park and his defence was excellent.
