The Bull Sharks played a key role in the Gold Coast’s gold medal victory at the 2026 Queensland Water Polo Country Championships in Mackay.
Cosi Winter and Macey Winter, Laurel O’Hare and Bella Knight helped the Gold Coast Blue team secure a 13-9 win over the Cairns Reef Sharks in the grand final.
The three-day water polo tournament brought together teams from across the state, including the Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Rockhampton.
Bull Sharks coach and goalkeeper Laurel O’Hare starred in the Gold Coast Blue team keeping them undefeated for the whole competition. It led to her being awarded most valuable goalie of the women’s tournament.
Macey Winter said the Gold Coast side had a good team environment and confidence.
“We went into the competition with a lot of girls having never played together for the Gold Coast before,” Winter said.
“So, to not to lose a single game over the competition is something we’re super happy about. To have three of us from Bond and our Bond Coach be able to play together at a higher level was pretty special – we’ve never had that many people from Bond in the Gold Coast team before.”
The Bull Sharks teammates will now turn their attention to selection for the Queensland team
