This weekend the Bull Sharks face the Jets on the Gold Coast and with the entire competition based on the Gold Coast – it is a nice break from the regular trip up the M1 to Nissan Arena.
The Jets’ Sapphires squad is scrambling for finals contention, and should not be underestimated with their experienced and quality player lineup.
And it is imperative the Bull Sharks keep winning to retain their two point lead on top of the ladder.
Though our Ruby squad are now out of finals contention, coach Kim Boland says the team are determined to finish the season on a strong note.

The opposition
We edged out Jets by just one goal in the first round. It is unlikely that they will make finals, however their roster is full of quality, experienced players. They could come at us with nothing to lose or mentally be checked out.
The challenge
Jets always bring a strong contest. For us, it’s about consistency and treasuring possession.

Ones to watch
Our defensive unit. They’ve been relentless in the back half of the season, and I’m expecting them to really disrupt Jets’ attack.
The focus
To focus on ourselves. Execute our plan, do it with intent, and do it exceptionally well.

Bull Sharks lost 69 - 63
The opposition
The last time we played the Jets, it was a disappointing loss, as it slipped away in the dying minutes of the game.
The challenge
The Jets have cemented their spot in the finals and boast a strong lineup, with several players in their Ruby side currently playing or have previously played at Sapphire level. They also have a tall goal shooter who provides a strong target in the circle and consistently scores the bulk of their goals.

No change at this stage to the lineup.
Ones to watch
Our defensive unit which is led by our hardworking mid-court trio—Mahlia Henare, Maggie Robinson and Ocean Karekare —who apply relentless pressure and create turnovers. Supporting them in the circle, Laura Kelly, Sienna Hyssett, and Harriet Nicholson who have all been outstanding, increasingly disrupting the opposition attack ends and making it difficult for teams to find their rhythm.
The focus
To finish the season strong — with nothing to lose, we can play with freedom and determination.

This week all teams come to the Gold Coast, so it’ll be a welcome change not to travel. We’re looking forward to making the most of playing at home.
