It was a win for the ages over the East Tigers last week, but the Bull Sharks have quickly refocused for the round 12 clash against Brothers at The Canal.
Last time they met
Bond’s first defeat of the season came at the hands of the brethren in round 3 when they went down 27-17 after leading 14-0 early in the match.
On that day winger Rhian Stowers scored two tries but the Bull Sharks received two yellow cards, opening the door for Brothers to kick on for the win.
Where will it be won
Hooker Jack Winchester was one of the best for Bond University in round 11 against the Tigers but it was a simple message that solidified the win.
“It was just about staying in the fight and competing for the full 80 minutes which has been something we have prided ourselves on throughout the season,” he said.
Brothers will pose a new threat and are a side that can beat anyone on their day.
“As a proud member of the front row, I’d love to say it’ll be won up front, but we will need an all-round performance to get the job done over Brothers,” he Winchester said.
“We’ve built a solid platform through our forwards over the past few weeks which gives our backs the chance to play some exciting rugby which we will aim to continue this week.”
Talking point
Winchester, who made his Super Rugby Pacific debut for the Western Force against the Brumbies back in 2021, made his first starting appearance for the Bull Sharks against the Tigers.
The John Eales Rugby Excellence Scholar returned to Bond University in 2023 to compete his Law degree and play rugby again for his beloved Bull Sharks.
“It’s been a really enjoyable experience being back with Bond. I love everything that club rugby has to offer and I'm loving my rugby,” he said.
“We have a really solid crew here which makes each training session and game day such a great experience.”
Catch Jack and the rest of the Bull Sharks in action from 3:05pm at The Canal.
