RESEARCH AND LEADERSHIP

Graduates of the Professional Doctorate of Physiotherapy will be  well prepared to pursue senior clinical leadership,  academic and research roles across health,  education  and community sectors - locally, nationally and internationally. Through advanced research training,  completion of a doctoral thesis and an industry-based capstone internship, graduates develop  expertise  in areas including clinical research, program evaluation, leadership, service development, policy,  education  and evidence translation.

Physiotherapists  may pursue roles across both public and private healthcare systems, working in inpatient and outpatient settings such as:  Acute and subacute rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic services, neurological rehabilitation, chronic disease management, paediatric and adolescent health, mental  health  and multidisciplinary care environments.

Physiotherapists with doctoral-level research and practice capabilities are highly sought after across community-based and population-focused services, including, community health centres, aged  care and ageing-in-place programs, workplace health, injury prevention, and ergonomics, schools and education  settings, services supporting individuals with physical impairments or long-term recovery needs, mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation programs.
