Master of Marketing (Professional)

Where will your degree take you?

Marketing is a crucial aspect of any business. In today's highly competitive environment, organisations need skilled marketing professionals who can create, execute and evaluate effective marketing strategies. As a profession, marketing is receiving more attention than ever before due to the merging of marketing and technology, the remarkable possibilities presented by the ever-growing volume and diversity of customer data, and the ability of digital and social platforms to interact with audiences/markets. Increasingly, marketing leaders must be able to confidently gather, analyse and interpret customer and market data to navigate the changing digital landscape impacting their organisations.

Given the considerable skillset and knowledge needed by marketing professionals, it is not surprising that a recent Hays report found that 92% of marketing professionals hold at least a bachelor’s degree, typically in a business-related field. In addition, 20% have a master’s degree, 15% a marketing-related postgraduate diploma, 13% an MBA and 9% a non-marketing-related postgraduate diploma. Clearly, regular upskilling and further qualifications are becoming increasingly important, especially for more senior roles.

According to the 2021 Hays Salary Guide, some of the top paying jobs in Australia that require a university marketing qualification are:

  1. Marketing Director - AU$163,000 - AU$240,000 per annum
  2. Senior Marketing Manager - AU$92,000 - AU$165,000 per annum
