Research interests
My main research areas lie in the area of tourism & hotel marketing, with specific interests in how both consumers and businesses use social media and consumer generated content in their travel planning and marketing strategies.
I have previously co-published research publications such as:
- A study of Web 2.0 tourism sites: A usability and web features perspective
- Understanding the motivations, information search needs and destination choice criteria of the medical tourist
- The consumer experience of holidays booked via Daily Deal promotions: An online content analysis of traveller reviews
- Best practice marketing for regional tourism destinations
- Consumer generated media in hospitality and tourism: Travellers' likes and their concerns about the latest innovation in hospitality marketing
- The role of user-generated content in tourists' travel planning behaviour
- Trust perceptions of online travel information by different content creators: Some social and legal implications.
My current research is primarily focussed on understanding how small business operators are responding to and managing social media, and other forms of consumer generated media, within their businesses.
