Foundations of Intelligent Construction (OpenBIM)

Start your Building Information Modelling (BIM) journey and learn about the core principles of BIM, Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery.

The course introduces participants to the fundamental principles of Lean Construction and Integrated Project Delivery and provides a brief introduction to the BIM framework adopted by buildingSMART Australasia.

Delivered in a highly interactive environment, the course covers BIM principles in a manner that equips students to sit for the buildingSMART International endorsed individual assessment of knowledge-based BIM learning.

The Foundations of Intelligent Construction (OpenBIM) is one of twelve specialised BIM microcredentials available. 

    • Delivered by industry experts, this course is delivered over a three (3) day workshop. 
    • Participants will be provided with an exclusive welcome session prior to commencing the first workshop.
    • Successfully completing the course will equip participants with a microcredential digital certificate. 
    • This microcredential aligns with the 5-credit point subject, Foundations of Intelligent Construction (SSUD-301), in the Master of Building Information Modelling and Integrated Project Delivery. The microcredential may qualify for credit towards a Bond University program.
  • This microcredential is aimed at professionals in architecture, project management, construction, valuation and property development, city planning or related fields with an interest in gaining a foundational understanding of Building Information Modelling concepts.

    Participants require basic skills in architecture, construction or a related field, or experience in the building or construction industries.

    Course dates: 22 - 24 January, 2024

Meet your course instructor

Dr Rosemarie Rusch

Dr Rosemarie Rusch is the coordinator of the Master of Building Information Modelling and Integrated Project Delivery programs at Bond University. In addition to her background as a drafting manager, building designer and project coordinator, she has over six years of experience proofreading the academic journal, the Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building. Rosemarie has a passionate interest in all things BIM and has built important relationship with leading practitioners in the field in order to ensure that all learners in our BIM microcredentials are exposed to the very latest insights in this very rapidly changing and enhancing set of technologies.
