Coursework

The program commences in Week 1.  In Week 2, you will attend a one week compulsory Learning Intensive together with four compulsory subjects.  In your second semester, you will complete elective subjects and placement subjects.  Legal Placements are subjects and include compulsory subjects Law Placement 1 and Transition to Practice and the elective Law Placement 2.

Legal placement

You will be required to complete work experience in a legal services environment under the supervisor of an experienced legal practitioner. During your placement, you will be required to undertake reflective learning activities to assist with your transition to practice. 

You can choose either a 30-day placement or a 60-day placement, and you may be eligible to reduce the duration of your placement through recognition of prior legal placement.

If you require assistance in sourcing a legal placement, our Career Development Centre (CDC) will support you.

30-day placement

If you choose a 30-day placement and you have completed work experience prior to commencing GDLP, you can apply to reduce the length of your placement by up to 15 days. You will also be required to complete four elective subjects.

60-day placement

If you choose a 60-day placement and you have completed work experience prior to commencing GDLP, you can apply to reduce the length of your placement by up to 45 days. You will also be required to complete only two elective subjects.
