Bond graduates among Australia's best Employer Satisfaction Survey shows

January 12, 2018

Employers of Bond University students are among the most satisfied in Australia, with the independent institution ranked in the top five nationally, new Federal Government data shows.

Bond University recorded an overall satisfaction rate of 88.6 per cent in the 2017 Employer Satisfaction Survey (ESS), the first of its kind in Australia to directly link the experience of graduates to the views of their direct supervisors.

Employers found Bond graduates rated highly across a number of categories including employability, teamwork, adaptability and general communication skills, placing the university at number four of the 39 institutions across the nation that were ranked.

The high level of employer satisfaction is aligns with the university's outstanding student satisfaction rate - with Bond topping the Federal Government's most recent Student Experience Survey (SES) results, released last year on the QILT website.

The Student Experience Survey found Bond students were the most satisfied in Australia, with more than 90 per cent rating their education experience as positive, significantly above the national average of 80 per cent.

Bond University Deputy Vice Chancellor, Students & Support Services, Alan Finch, said the latest results were reflective of Bond's focus on ensuring students were 'job ready' on graduation.

"To have employers rate our graduates among the best in the nation is extremely rewarding and a credit to the continuous effort our staff and students put into building the skills necessary, to ensure every student can hit the ground running in the workplace," he said.

"As a small university, we are in a unique position to provide individually-tailored experiences which give our students a competitive edge and we are leading the way with co-curricular programs such as the Australia-first Transformer, which encourages analytical, ‘big-picture’ thinking and provides our students with an entrepreneurial skillset and unparalleled access to industry experts, mentors and academic coaches.

"In addition, our mandatory Beyond Bond extra-curricular program means all students graduate with on-the-job experience and skills through work placements and internships with Bond’s extensive community and industry partners, and other engagement initiatives such as volunteering and mentoring.

"It is very pleasing to hear these initiatives have contributed to the success of our students and the positive reputation Bond graduates have with employers nationally."
