Applications are sought from health graduate for two available full-time 12-month fixed term Research Assistant positions. These roles will provide support to two funded research projects being undertaken at the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare.

Topic 1: Long COVID (Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19)
The Research Assistant will provide support, in accordance with the position description, for an MRFF Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 Grant. This research focuses on improving the management of Long COVID in Australian primary care through evidence-informed education and peer-support models.
The Research Assistant will join a multidisciplinary primary care research team led by Professor Julie Redfern and Assistant Professor Oyuka Byambasuren, working at the interface of evidence synthesis, implementation science, and real-world clinical practice.
Topic 2: Community Antibiotic Stewardship Implementation
The Research Assistant will support an MRFF Clinical Trial Activity Grant entitled Evidence‑based Antimicrobial Stewardship: Sustainable Implementation in Primary Care (EASSI‑PC) and focuses on minimising antibiotic resistance in the community. The project aims to reduce antibiotic use for acute, self‑limiting infections by (i) improving uptake of existing evidence‑based strategies and/or (ii) building the evidence base for new and emerging innovative strategies.
The successful applicant will join a team led by Assistant Professor Mina Bakhit, Professor Tammy Hoffmann and Emeritus Professor Paul Glasziou.
About the person
Selection criteria for the opportunities include the following:
Essential
• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline (clinical training preferred: medicine, nursing, allied health)
• Demonstrated understanding of research
• Strong analytical and writing skills
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience supporting projects with defined timelines and deliverables
• Understanding of the Australian primary care system
• Ability to engage professionally with clinicians and patients
• Skills in digital technologies and information systems
Desirable
• Clinical or administrative experience in primary care
• Understanding of implementation research, clinical trials, or health services research
• Interest in the proposed topic of research (e.g., Long COVID or chronic disease management, overuse of antibiotics, etc.)

The positions are available on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, with potential to extend the term subject to continuation of research funding.
Flexible hours may be considered subject to project milestone deliverables and associated timelines.
It is anticipated that the successful applicants will work from Robina campus. The Research Assistant may be offered additional opportunities in other research areas/projects subject to skills alignment and availability.
Salary details
The salary for the position commences at $71,938.46 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
