COVID-19 (coronavirus): Latest advice for the Bond community.

Leila Khaze, Class of 2014

In our first 30 years, almost 30,000 alumni have graduated from Bond University. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re showcasing some of the past students who have paved the way for the next generation of Bondies.

Meet Juris Doctor alumna, Leila Khaze.

What is your current role?

Solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills.

Where are you based?

Why did you choose to attend Bond?

Because I could complete my Juris Doctor in just two years. I also had friends that were completing the Juris Doctor and they told me it was a fantastic university and they were enjoying an amazing experience.

What are your recollections of your time here?

I can sincerely recall having an amazing student experience. Whether it involved attending lectures, or attending an event, Bondies put 100 per cent into everything they did. I remember enjoying the perfect balance between my studies and social life. I would not have wanted to complete my law degree any other way!

How has being a Bond graduate helped you in your career?

Bond has an outstanding reputation in the legal community. I was also able to distinguish myself from other law graduates, especially in New South Wales, as most graduates attended large universities and had similar academic profiles to one another. Being a Bond graduate has set me apart from the others.

What advice would you give to current Bondies?

Enjoy every single day at Bond because there is nothing like it! One day you will look back on your time at uni and think, “Those were the days!”

What does it mean to you to be a Bondy?

Being part of a tight-knit, yet international community where almost everyone was a friendly face.

What is your favourite memory of Bond?

Having a friends circle comprised of students from all over the world. Another favourite memory was always mid-sem bash and exec drinks!

Anything else you would like to share?

I really miss being a student at Bond. Moving all the way to Australia from Canada to attend Bond Uni was genuinely one of the best decisions I have made.
