It’s just like an Open Day… but all about you!
Personal Open Day is an initiative here at Bond that provides future Bondies with the opportunity to experience campus and uni life up close. In the COVID-19 era, traditional large-scale Open Days like most universities typically offer are constantly being affected by restrictions and border closures, and often can’t go ahead. This makes it incredibly hard for future students to get that unique insight into what makes a university tick.
Enter Personal Open Day! This initiative is a small-scale, personalised experience unique to Bond. You’ll be handed the figurative keys to campus for the day, exploring all the things that interest you about university, whether that’s your study area, sport, clubs or living on campus.
Personal Open Day is your chance to take a curated look at what studying at Bond could be like. Here are five reasons why you should consider coming along this year.
1. It's all about you
This experience is focused solely on you and your family, so you can ask every question you can possibly think of! How do I apply to Bond? What scholarships am I eligible for? What’s it like living on campus? What sports facilities are available for me at Bond? At Personal Open day there will be a dedicated team of people ready to answer these questions, and you’ll leave with the knowledge you need to make an informed decision about your university journey.
2. Meet a Bondy
The first person you’ll meet in this team is the Student Host. Greeting you on arrival, the Student Host will already know a bit about your background, and you’ll embark on a personalised campus tour together. Student Hosts want to learn about what attracts you to Bond and what you’re interested in studying, so be sure to make conversation and tell your host if there’s something specific you want to see or are intrigued by. Student Hosts can answer questions about the university culture, their experiences living on and off campus, studying online and remotely, and participating in extracurricular activities such as mooting, exchange and sporting clubs.
As someone who worked as a Student Host last year, the part of the job I loved the most was meeting keen students and learning about their incredible experiences – so be sure to lean on your Student Host as much as possible, because chances are they’re eager to tell you all about Bond!
3. Learn more about your chosen program
The next person you’ll have the opportunity to speak to is an expert from your study area of interest. Unlike typical open days, at Personal Open Day you will have the chance to talk one-on-one with an academic or program expert to learn more about your chosen study area. You can ask about work experience and internship opportunities within the faculty, learn about the subjects you will take throughout your degree, hear about any international connections the university has and determine how long your degree will take to finish. This is also a great time to discuss graduate outcomes to understand where this particular program could take you in the future.
4. Find out how to make the leap
After meeting with a study area expert, you’ll finish up with another one-on-one conversation, this time with your Domestic Regional Manager (DRM). Bond’s DRMs are almost like your knowledgeable tour guides to all things Bond. They’re here to help you work out the best path to achieve your own unique goals. All of your questions relating to admissions, scholarships, fees and many other topics can be directed to your DRM.
5. All this and more - for free!
The best part about all of this? It’s completely free! If you’re located nearby and can travel to campus, you’re eligible to attend Personal Open Day at no cost to you. This is an unmatched opportunity to weigh up all of the particulars of what is a very personal, monumental choice, and to ask the experts all of your big questions.
Is attending Personal Open Day on your radar? We can’t wait to welcome you to campus at a time that suits you between Friday, 10 September and Saturday, 2 October.
