Types of credit

  • Credit for prior formal learning

If you have previously completed studies at a recognised institution, such as a university or TAFE, you may be eligible for credit if your completed subjects closely match the content and learning outcomes of those in your Bond program.

In many cases, this type of credit is based on subject precedents - previously approved credit outcomes for specific subjects. The Credit Calculator allows you to search for these precedents, giving you an indication of what credit may apply to your prior studies.

If your previous subjects are not yet listed as precedents, your application will be individually assessed.

  • Credit for informal or non-formal learning

Credit for informal or non-formal learning acknowledges the skills and knowledge you have acquired through work experience, on-the-job training, microcredentials, or a combination of these. This type of credit focuses on the practical application of what you have learned outside of a formal educational setting.

This type of credit is assessed individually and not always listed in the Credit Calculator. Where formal arrangements exist (such as through a workplace training program), these may appear as part of a recognised pathway program that allows for structured credit into your Bond degree.

  • Pathway programs and articulation agreements

Partnership and articulation agreements enable you to transition smoothly from external qualifications into approved programs at Bond. These partnerships assess prior learning, providing structured pathways with possible credit transfers into our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Bond University offers a range of articulation pathways through partnerships with institutions worldwide.

Pathway programs are searchable in the Credit Calculator and provide a clear, reliable guide to how your previous qualifications may contribute towards your degree at Bond.
