Healthcare is essential for human wellbeing, but did you know it is also one of the largest contributors to environmental harm, second only to the food industry? In this thought-provoking forum, Assistant Professor Dee Hurley will open the discussion by examining the environmental footprint of healthcare and highlighting the scale and urgency of the challenge.
Professor Nasim Salehi and Annaya Sivam will then showcase inspiring global examples of hospitals and healthcare systems adopting innovative, practical strategies to reduce their environmental impact. From rethinking waste to introducing new models of energy and resource use, they will demonstrate that change is not only possible but already underway.
The session will conclude with an engaging Q&A, inviting participants to explore how these insights connect to the circular economy and what actions individuals can take to support a more sustainable healthcare future.
