Description
Marketing research consists of planning, collecting and analysing data relevant to marketing decision making, and the communication of research findings to management. The purpose of this subject is to develop an appreciation of the role of market research in the formulation and solution of marketing problems, and development of the student’s basic skills in conducting and evaluating marketing research projects. Special emphasis is placed on problem formulation, research design, alternative methods of data collection (including qualitative and quantitative) and data analysis techniques.

Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate broad knowledge and basic technical skills with respect to market research.
- Conduct a market research study, including defining a basic marketing problem; developing and executing appropriate research techniques to investigate the problem; and analyse and interpret the findings.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others to complete a project by working within a team.
- Demonstrate effective oral communication skills by presenting a short overview of an assigned marketing topic.
- Reflect on one's personal learning experience to extract and evaluate insights related to group work and technical aspects of market research.
