Learning outcomes
- Understand case analysis and apply the principles of case precedent.
- Understand the sources of law and the framework of the Canadian legal system.
- Understand the branches of government and the interplay between them.
- Understand the concept of judicial review and Canadian statutory interpretation.
- Understand the special relationship between the Aboriginal Peoples and the Canadian state; understand Aboriginal self-government, Aboriginal treaty rights and Aboriginal title.
- Communicate ideas in an organised and effective manner.

Students must be admitted into a Bachelor law degree or Bachelor of Laws combined degree or be an approved Law Study Abroad OR Law exchange student. This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure. |
