Description

This English, lower-intermediate (*B1) level subject will build skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and interaction.  Students will develop relevant academic skills, digital literacies and intercultural competency in preparation for higher education and beyond.   * In accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (Council of Europe, 2020)

Learning outcomes

  1. Present information on a familiar topic.
  2. Demonstrate understanding of the gist and main points of speech on reasonably familiar topics.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of short, simple, straightforward, written texts on familiar topics.
  4. Write simple connected texts on routine, familiar subjects.
  5. Participate in short, straightforward spoken interactions on a familiar topic.

Assumed knowledge:

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.
