Description

This subject will provide students with the basic academic skills required to undertake tertiary study. It is designed as an intensive subject which must be undertaken in the first semester of a Bond University College Diploma program. Students will be introduced to the areas of research, essay writing, report writing and referencing, and will workshop and develop these skills through a series of focused activities.

Learning objectives

1. Prepare for intensive study and plan for success within the University environment. 2. Locate information for university assessments using online research databases, and engage in source evaluation to identify credible and useful sources. 3. Structure and outline academic works including essays and reports. 4. Apply referencing conventions in academic writing, and understand its importance for maintaining academic integrity.
