Hart Premier Netball is back!

It's a staggered start to the Hart Premier Netball season this year.

Our Ruby team will look to get their season off to a flier at 1pm on Sunday when they'll lock horns with the Darling Downs Panthers in Toowoomba.

The Sapphire squad will get their season underway in a fortnight.

Ruby preseason review

The team has completed a strong preseason following our return from the Adelaide trip.

Our preparation has been reflected in two impressive trial performances against Ipswich Jets and Carina Leagues Club Tigers.

We have developed valuable depth within the Ruby squad this year, and that depth will be critical to achieving sustained success across the season.

Season focus

The 2026 Ruby season spans 18 rounds, placing a premium on consistency, effort, and intensity.

Our focus is on continuous improvement—using each game as an opportunity to learn and evolve, both as athletes and individuals. Round 1 marks the beginning of that journey.

We aim to play with a bold and brave mindset, embracing challenges, taking calculated risks, and committing fully both on and off the court.

Competition outlook

The ten-team competition appears strong, though clearer benchmarks will emerge once the Sapphire season begins in four weeks.

Our priority remains internal - ensuring our preparation, standards, and weekly performances reflect our potential.

Players to watch

Netball is inherently a team game, and success will rely on collective contribution across the squad.

That said, we benefit from significant experience, with Abby Boland returning for her fourth season and Hart Ruby Player of the Year Harriet Nicholson entering her eleventh.

Their leadership will be instrumental in supporting the development of emerging talent, including promising young shooter Bridie Stewart.

Final word

How we represent ourselves, the University  and approach the game is paramount.

Our goal is to play an exciting, attacking brand of netball with confidence, energy, and enjoyment—values that extend beyond the scoreboard. How we play and conduct ourselves matters.

Season openers always bring an element of unpredictability, so our focus will be on consistent, high-quality execution of fundamentals.

We anticipate a passionate home crowd, making it essential to remain composed and focused on controllables and stay in our Bond Bubble.

Delivering a composed, disciplined performance will be central to our approach.

While scoring ultimately decides outcomes, our emphasis will be on creating high-quality opportunities through dynamic footwork, quick ball movement, and varied attacking options.

Our midcourt is a key strength, led by Queensland U19 representative Mahlia Henare, complemented by a strong shooting unit featuring Evie Stower, Bridie Stewart, and Abby Boland.

Defensively, we bring experience and resilience, with Taylah Kiss returning from the Sydney State League to bolster an already formidable defensive end.

Execution, intensity, and cohesion will be critical.

The group is well-prepared and excited to begin the 2026 campaign this Mother's Day in Toowoomba.
