After their great escape against Redlands Eagles, Bond will look to let the momentum from a 3-0 start to the 2026 season into a massive game against Ruby powerhouse, Carina Leagues Club Tigers at Nissan Arena on Sunday.
-with Ruby Head Coach Gav Clarke.
The opposition
The Tigers recorded a solid win against the Moreton Bay Pulse in their last outing. They're a young, tenacious side, and they'll be looking to avenge their pre-season loss to us.
The challenge
Our defence against the Eagles was superb, and this week we must continue to be disciplined in our contested ball challenges and stay in the contest during super shot time because the Tigers have some excellent young outside shooters.
If we can flood the two-point zone, rebound missed shots, and transition with confidence, we will be meeting our game targets and goals.
The Tigers will come hard and fast at us with their pressing defence, so we must ensure we are patient when needed and release the ball when we are free and in space.
Shuffling the magnets
It was refreshing to have the break over the weekend, and the team has trained with intensity and purpose this week.
We're all extremely excited for defender Taylah Kiss, who joins the ACT Capital Darters for Suncorp Super Netball Reserves games this weekend.
This also allows us to continue developing and expanding our defensive circle options and connections.
Ones to watch
Harriet Nicholson has had a cracking start to the season, and we will once again be looking for her to lead our defensive unit and put the Tigers shooters under immense pressure.
GA Evie Stower will also be looking to build on her outstanding two-point shooting against the Eagles and continue strengthening her connections with goal shooters Abby Boland and Bridie Stewart.
The focus
We must be consistent in the implementation and execution of our game plan.
We had 36 gains against the Eagles — enough to win two games — but unfortunately, we forced too many passes into contested space and brought the opposition back into the game.
The team is performing really well - the skill set is there - but we need to apply ourselves for the full 60 minutes.
Final word
The Tigers are a great club to play against, and we cannot wait to step onto the court for the first centre pass.
With the Sapphire season starting next weekend, we want to secure another strong win and have the whole club humming as both teams prepare to take on the Kedron Wavell Cougars in two weeks’ time.
Our plan is clear — we just need to step up, accept the challenge, and get it done!
