Full team effort needed as Bull Sharks enter finals

The Bull Sharks will make Bond University history on Sunday when they contest finals for the first time.

Their opponents got the points last time they met, however both enter the finals after losses in the final round.

Sapphire Semi-Final

Bull Sharks huddle v Titans
A full team effort will be needed in the finals.

Bull Sharks v Sunshine Coast Thunder.

Last time they met:

Bull Sharks lost 75-66

The opponent:

The Thunder sit one win above us on third place on the ladder, but will come into the game off a loss against Jets.

Shuffling the magnets:

We have some consistency in selection as we head into the finals with our full team available.

Ones to watch:

There are some truly exciting matchups across the court. Lauren Aubrey has significantly developed her on-court skills and confidence, and I'm eager to see her face off against Charlie Bell again. Jayden Molo was injured early in our last match against them, so I'm looking forward to the physical contest between her and Maddie Hinchcliff. The Mia Stower/Shannon Eagland matchup will be fascinating as well, with both being former SSN players.

The Focus:

We have reflected deeply throughout the season, strengthening our connections and remaining committed to our tasks while adapting when necessary. Our squad boasts great depth of talent, and I am confident that all 11 players can be brought into the game to make an impact when needed. It's not the time to introduce anything new; we just need to excel at executing the small things.

Final word:

Despite the revolving door of players available for training and games, I believe that finals are a whole new ball game, and we might just be peaking at the right time.

With Bec Stower.

Ruby Semi-Final

Bull Sharks vs Cougars.

Last time they met.

Bull Sharks lost 59-50

The opposition:

In our last encounter, we had a slow start in the first quarter, allowing the Cougars to gain a 10-goal lead early on. The Cougars are a tough, physical team, and we didn’t adjust quickly enough. They will head into this game off a loss last week.

Shuffling the magnets:

There are no planned changes at this stage. However, we are concerned about the large number of athletes who are currently unwell in the Ruby team as we head into this knockout final.

Ones to watch:

Every player needs to step up as we did last week. We are looking for all 10 athletes to bring their best game this Sunday.

The Focus:

We continue to focus on valuing possession and converting our turnovers into points.

Final word:

With both the Ruby and Sapphire teams making the semi-finals for the first time in Bull Sharks Netball Club history, this milestone reflects the hard work and dedication of every athlete within our squad, our coaches and support staff. We couldn’t be prouder of our athletes and our club. Regardless of Sunday’s outcome, we stand by our motto: “With me” “With you” – Be BOLD be BOND.

With Kim Boland.
