Sasha May-Flegler and Jayden Molo have claimed the top gongs at Bond University Netball Club’s awards night, capping off a historic season for the Bull Sharks.
Flegler, who shone this season as a Queensland Firebirds training partner and has been selected for the Australian U23 team which will tour Tonga this month took home the Bull Shark of the Year award for a second year in a row.
The award recognises a player who exemplifies Bull Sharks team values, leads by example both on and off the court and continually seeks ways to improve the game for everyone.
“Flegler delivered a consistent season, continually building and consolidating her game,” said Bond Sapphire coach Rebecca Stower.

“She is the epitome of a true athlete, displaying high-performance behaviours, a fierce competitive edge, and a team-first mentality.”
Jayden Molo polled 891.5 points across the season to win her first Most Valuable Player of Bond’s Sapphire squad, thanks to her outstanding attacking performance, which included 203 goal assists and 345 feeds.
Molo made a return to the court this season after battling an ankle injury which took her out early in the 2024 season.
“After an injury-plagued 2024 season, Jayden returned in 2025 with an outstanding campaign,” Stower said.
“She’s a true powerhouse and combines physical strength with sharp vision, delivering pinpoint passing and feeding with precision.

“Her resilience, skill and leadership have been pivotal in driving her team’s success this year.”
Kaylin van Greunen, the Bull Sharks’ first signing upon re-entering the Sapphire series back in 2023, was the deserving recipient of the Players’ Player award – a testament to not only her work on the court but also the respect she commands from her teammates.
The Bond Bachelor of Health Sciences student has evolved into one of the competition’s top goal shooters, playing a crucial role in the Bull Sharks’ rise from wooden spooners in 2023 to lifting the premiership shield this year.

“Still early in her career, Kaylin has been steadily building over the past three seasons, demonstrating maturity beyond her years,” Stower said.
“She is loved by her peers for her kind and caring nature. She is also valued as a scoring machine and for the vital role she plays in the team’s success.”
The women were central to the Bull Sharks’ milestone premiership when they beat the Kedron-Wavell Cougars in a nail-biting 61-60 victory at Nissan Arena.
In her debut season, Kirra Tappenden won the Player of Finals award after sealing the premiership win scoring a two-point super shot to get Bond over the line in the final minute of the grand final.

Tappenden also took home the Queensland 19&U Players’ Player award at the Netball Queensland Pathway Awards.
In the Ruby Series, Bull Sharks captain Harriet Nicholson won Bond Ruby squad's Most Valuable Player award and was also crowned MVP at Netball Queensland’s Pathway Awards.
