Enders returns as Bull Sharks brace for Burleigh rebound

Miles Enders
Miles Enders.

The Bull Sharks and Burleigh share one of the great rivalries in the QFA — and few chapters have been as dramatic as their last meeting.

On that day, in rain-soaked chaos, it was Miles Enders who rose out of the mud to pull down a contested mark and slot the winner after the siren, sealing a famous one-point victory.

This weekend, Enders returns to the squad — fit, firing, and in rare form — alongside fellow young gun Nick Francis, as the Bull Sharks aim to go two-from-two against the Bombers. But they know Burleigh, stung by that loss, will come hard and fast.

Bull Sharks v Burleigh at The Canal

Last time we met

Rd 8, 2025 at Burleigh

Bull Sharks won 5.7 (37) – 5.6 (36)

It was a famous Bull Sharks victory as Miles Enders slotted a goal after the siren to deliver the Bombers a rare defeat on their home deck. The conditions were terrible but when it mattered Enders flew into their and pulled down one of the few contested marks for the day to set up the match winning shot on goal.

The opposition

Over the years a fierce rivalry has been built, and this week’s game is billed as one of the most important of our season.

The challenge

Burleigh are always a challenge. They are very well coached, have quality players all over the ground and lift against the Bull Sharks. We need to be fully dialled on and ready for a fierce contest.

Shuffling the magnets

There are several sore players after the weekend and given the time of year most players are carrying some type of injury. We will welcome back two of our young guns in Nick Francis and Miles Enders who are in rare form and possible the two best players in the competition.

Ones to watch

The watch this week will again be the back six. If we can control their dangerous forwards we will win the game. We have quality in the midfield who we back to win their positions which goes a long way in limiting their use to the forwards. Every contest this weekend is critical given the quality of the opposition.

The focus

We had a famous after the siren win on our last outing with Burleigh so we know they will be primed to get one up on us at our home base. The focus is on playing the way that has got us to where we are to this point of the season, that’s team first footy and pressure the opposition into submission.

The final word

It’s a game all the players and staff look forward too. The two best teams going at it in an old-fashioned rivalry, it should be a ripper.
