On the Club Corner we highlight the University's social sports clubs.
This week we shine the spotlight on Bond Cheer Club.
What is the Bond Cheer Club?
Bond Cheer is one of the most enjoyable and welcoming experiences with something for everybody. Whether you want to learn some skills with friends for the fun of it at our social cheer trainings or put your competitiveness to the test under the spotlight of the competition floor. We build our club upon our family feel – our cheerleaders find friends for life within our club.
Greatest achievement as a club?
Last year (2024) was an amazing year for Bond Cheer with podium placements at many of our comps. We achieved both 2nd and 3rd at local AASCF competitions as well as placing 2nd at AASCF Nationals against 11 other competitors!

Why join Bond Cheer Club?
You don’t need any cheer experience to join us! Whether you are a level 5 cheerleader or have only watched “Bring It On” – it's all for the fun and friends. At the end of the day, you come away with new skills and lasting connections, a true testament to Bond’s culture.
One word to describe Bond Cheer Club?
MATESHIP
Which member of your club brings the culture?
Specific people would have to include our past president Haden Gasmin and current president Kayla Dayes. Although every single one of our cheerleaders makes the club what it is today
What fun traditions/rituals/superstitions do you have?
Our favourite tradition is our post-comp bounce nights. Pizza + trampolines = the best remedy for a post-comp debrief.
Fiercest rival?
For sure the Griffith Kats! We do love competing against UQ and QUT at our local comps. The uni cheer groups are a little family, no matter where or what division we compete in, we all come together at the end of the day.
