Sapphire - Round 4
Bull Sharks v Moreton Bay Pulse
4pm Saturday, Nissan Arena
The Opposition
Moreton Bay Pulse come into Round 4 with one win from their opening three matches. Their victory came against a heavily depleted Thunder outfit, while they pushed Jets in a narrow loss before coming up against a strong Titans side.
What stands out most about Pulse is the experience they have added to their line-up, with former Silver Ferns Laura Langman and Katrina Rore bringing a wealth of leadership, composure and netball IQ. Their presence provides a calming influence and ensures Pulse remain competitive regardless of the scoreboard.
The Challenge
For us, the challenge will be finding consistency across all four quarters.
Against Wildcats, it took us a while to rediscover our rhythm. After a disrupted period with players moving in and out of programs, there was plenty of excitement about finally having the group back together. While that energy was fantastic, it probably worked against us a little early as we rushed things and took time to settle into our game.
This week we need to be sharper from the opening whistle and ensure we play our style of netball for longer periods.
Shuffling the Magnets
Unfortunately, Amy and Kaylin both suffered ankle injuries during Saturday's match and we are awaiting further assessment from the physio team to determine their availability.
Adding to the changes, Sasha-May will spend the week at home in Tully with her family. After a long stretch as a Firebirds Training Partner followed immediately by SSN Reserves commitments, it is an opportunity for her to reset mentally and physically before returning to the program.
As a result, there will be some magnet shuffling again this week. While continuity is always helpful, one of the strengths of this group has been its willingness to adapt and embrace whatever role is required for the team.
Ones to Watch
Laura Langman and Katrina Rore are the obvious names. Their experience at the highest level of international netball cannot be underestimated and they will provide strong leadership across the court.
For our group, it's also a fantastic opportunity. How often do you get the chance to test yourself against players who have competed at the very highest level of the game? Experiences like this are invaluable for our athletes and provide a great benchmark for where they are at and what is required to succeed at the next level.
For Sapphire, the focus remains on the collective rather than any individual. With some potential changes to the line-up, this presents another opportunity for players to step up, make an impact when their number is called, and embrace the challenge of competing against some of the game's most experienced campaigners.

The Focus
Our focus this week is simple: trust the process and trust each other.
When we are patient, connected and disciplined in our roles, we play some really good netball. We don't need to overcomplicate things. Win the contest in front of us, value possession and build pressure consistently across four quarters.
Final Word
Every season throws up challenges and Round 4 is no different. Injuries, player availability and changing combinations are all part of the journey.
What excites me most is the resilience of this group. Every week someone has stepped into a new role, embraced the challenge and put the team first. We will need that mindset again this weekend.
Pulse will be tough, but if we bring our trademark effort, connection and belief, we'll give ourselves every opportunity to come away with the result.
Ruby - Round 8
Bull Sharks v Moreton Bay Pulse
6pm Saturday, Nissan Arena
The Opposition
We meet Pulse for the second time this season after a strong Round 2 victory, but they are a much-improved outfit since then. Last weekend they pushed a quality Jets side all the way, falling just short in a highly competitive contest. Their confidence is growing, and we know they will present a significant challenge this weekend.
The Challenge
The Wildcats match was always going to test us. We started strongly but were unable to consistently execute our structures and game plan for the full 60 minutes. At this level, every team has dangerous attacking threats, and the Wildcats capitalised during the Super Shot period to build a lead that proved difficult to reel in. The group has responded well at training this week, refocusing on the fundamentals and preparing to attack this challenge with energy and purpose.
Shuffling the Magnets
Mahlia Henare remains sidelined through injury, and we continue to wish her a smooth recovery. Stepping into the squad again this weekend is exciting Emerald midcourter Ellie Weston, whose energy, speed and willingness to compete will provide another valuable option to the team.
Ones to Watch
This week's performance will be built on collective effort rather than individual brilliance. Every player has a role to play, and success will come from everyone consistently doing the small things well and supporting one another across all four quarters.
The Focus
Speed. Consistency. Connection.
There is no secret sauce. Our focus is on executing the fundamentals, backing our structures, and remaining committed to each other and the game plan for the entire 60 minutes. When we do that, we give ourselves every opportunity to compete with the best teams in the competition.
Final Word
We currently sit fifth on the ladder with a 4–3 record, and the opportunity is there for us to make our move back into the top four. This group has shown throughout the season that it is capable of playing some outstanding netball. The next step is producing that level consistently and developing the ability to adapt and adjust during games when challenges arise. We pride ourselves on learning and adapting...school is in!
As I said to the team it's not about positive talk it's about taking positive action.
