A Queensland AFLW representative team featuring Bull Sharks Ella Calleja, Skye White and Jasmine Davidson made it three in a row with a commanding 42-point victory over Tasmania in their state clash at Latrobe Recreation Ground last weekend.
Queensland held a narrow three-point lead at half time but pulled clear in the second half. In the end the Maroons kept the Apple Islanders goalless to seal an emphatic 8.5 (63) – 3.3 (21) win.
Davidson, Queensland’s vice-captain, said it was a good weekend away with a tightknit squad.

“It was a hard-fought win after a bit of a slow start but super exciting to be able to come home with the victory for QLD with a good group of girls,” Davidson said.
Queensland head coach and Gold Coast Suns AFLW player, Jamie Stanton, praised the contributions of the Bull Sharks trio.
“Jas was our VC and was really important to the way we defended on the day. She was a great leader and demonstrated her strengths all day,” Stanton said.
Like Davisson, Ella Calleja returned to the state side for a second consecutive year. She kicked two of Queensland’s eight majors.
“Ella played in our forward half and kicked a couple of goals,” Stanton said.
“She presented really well and her pressure in the forward half was important.”
Meanwhile, defender Skye White was named among best on ground.
“Skye was extremely competitive all day and positioned herself really well in relation to her opponent,” Stanton said. “I don’t think she lost a one-on-one contest all day.”
Bond University Director of AFL and Women’s Head Coach, Andy Lovell said he was proud of the girls' efforts.
“It’s amazing how they represented the Bond Bull Sharks, all three women have had outstanding seasons so far and we look forward to them coming back and helping us press towards finals,” Lovell said.
