Bull Sharks primed for return bout with physical Titans

It’s rivalry round as the Bull Sharks prepare to take on the top-of-the-table Titans in a Gold Coast showdown that always delivers fireworks. The Sapphire squad will be looking to flip the script after a Round 2 loss, bolstered by a near full-strength lineup and the return of star shooter Mia Stower. With second spot on the ladder secure, this clash is a chance to lay down a marker as finals edge closer.

For the Ruby team, the equation is clear: composure and connection for the full 60 minutes. Their last clash with the Titans was a heartbreaker, slipping away in the dying moments.

From Jayden Molo’s physical presence to Maddie Ryan’s calm leadership and Bridie Stewart’s rising star power, both squads have the talent and tenacity to take this one deep. Expect a fierce, finals-like atmosphere—no matter the venue.

Last time we met

Rd 2, 2025

Bull Sharks lost 73–67

The game ultimately slipped away from us in the third quarter, where we were outscored by nine goals. We allowed the physicality of the match to affect our decision-making, and it cost us momentum at a crucial point in the game.

The opposition

We know exactly what to expect from the Titans - a fast, physical, high-pressure contest. They bring intensity from the first whistle, and we’ll need to match it.

The challenge

Staying true to our style and playing our brand of netball. The key is focusing on what we can control which is our structures, discipline, and execution under pressure.

Jayden Molo
Jayden Molo will be a key against the Titans.

Shuffling the magnets

For the first time in a while, I believe we’ll have access to our full squad. That gives us flexibility and firepower across all thirds of the court.

Ones to watch

Jayden Molo had a standout performance last time we faced the Titans. This kind of physical matchup really suits her game. I’m expecting Maddie Ryan to anchor our defence with her calm presence and consistent form. And it’s a huge boost to welcome Mia Stower back into the lineup after missing the past three rounds - she’ll add both scoring strength and connection in our shooting end.

The focus

We want a strong start, establishing control early and building momentum across four quarters. It’s time to set the tone from the outset.

The final word

It will be different playing the Titans at Nissan Arena without the usual home crowd energy and hype, but I’m really looking forward to this one.

Bull Sharks lost 58-49

It was a tightly contested, seesawing battle with multiple lead changes. We entered the fourth quarter with a one-goal lead, but lost sight of our game plan and focus in those crucial final minutes. A few costly errors allowed the game to slip away from us.

The opposition

Evie Stower

The Titans currently sit comfortably at the top of the ladder, having lost just one game all season. However, when we met them in Round 2, we led for the majority of the match and pushed them all the way before falling short in the final minutes. That performance showed we’re more than capable of matching it with the best.

The challenge

Titans are a physical and confident side, as you’d expect from the ladder leaders. The key challenge for us will be to stay composed, not get drawn into the physicality, and focus on playing our brand of netball.

Shuffling the magnets

At this stage, our lineup remains uncertain as we await updates on player availability due to illness and injury. We’ll be making final decisions closer to the weekend once we have a clearer picture.

Ones to watch

This is a game where we need all 11 athletes to step up. Every player will be vital, and we’ll need a united, all-in performance to get the result we want.

The focus

Matches against the Titans always bring intensity due to the strong Gold Coast rivalry. Staying focused, composed, and connected for the full 60 minutes will be crucial.

The final word

These clashes are always high-emotion contests, but that’s what makes them great. We’re expecting another exciting matchup, and we’re ready for the challenge.
