Bull Sharks out to keep winning streak intact

AFLW national anthem .jpg

The Bull Sharks hit the road this week in a bid to keep their unbeaten starts to the season alive.

In the QAFLW the ANZAC Day tradition continues with the Blues hosting the Bull Sharks in a Friday afternoon blockbuster at Giffin Park. The Blues got the points at The Canal last year before the Bull Sharks returned the favour in the finals.

On Saturday our men will head to unchartered waters to take on QFA newcomers Beenleigh on their home surface.

Bull Sharks v Coorparoo at Coorparoo

Last time we met

2024 Elimination Final at The canal.

Bull Sharks won 10.6 (68) - 2.3 (15)

The opposition

Coorparoo are a big and strong, contested ball team so they will present a challenge on the inside. They are a mature and experienced team who play really well at their home ground.

 The challenge

The challenge this week is to replace two of our best players, Charlie Adamson who has torn her ACL and Bella Davies who has done her meniscus. It's an opportunity for two other girls to step up from our reserves.

 Shuffling the magnets

Reserve players Maddi Furlong, Sienna Merry, Aleira Usher, Kiara Nyhaus and Brianna Moyes all have a chance at playing up with the seniors this week.

Ones to watch

Maisy Evans
Maisy Evans

Kendra Blattman kicked four goals last game and is in great form. Maisy Evans has started the season strongly. Lexi Samuels on a wing and Georgia Johnson through the midfield are also in good touch. What has also been pleasing is the development of Jasmine Davidson. We are trialling the key defender on the wing, and she has been really dominant.

The focus

We must consolidate on our strong start to the season. Itโ€™s our first away game for the year so we need to take our form on the road.

The final word

We owe it to the two girls who are going to miss the rest of year to go and play with Bond spirit.

QFA

Bull Sharks v Beenleigh at Beenleigh

The opposition

This week we take on an opposition who are new to the competition. Beenleigh are an unknown quantity given we know very little about them. We need to make sure we prepare as well as possible and not go in with any complacency at all.

 The challenge

This week it is important that we stick to what has worked for us previously. We need to be on point and play our game style to ensure we donโ€™t get ambushed on their home deck!

Ones to watch

Felix Packer
Felix Packer

Our spine is our strength โ€“ we have some high talent on every line which is our one wood. Nick Francis, Miles Enders, Dan Middleton and Felix Packer are the ones to watch this week.

The focus

It is simply about playing our game style in an uncompromising fashion.

 The final word

Playing a new team that we have never played in an unfamiliar environment should excite the group, we cannot afford to go away from what has worked for us up until this point in the season.
