It is derby week in the Hart Premier Netball League with the Bull Sharks Ruby Series side set to face old foes the Gold Coast Titans.
The two clubs split the results last year and head coach Kim Boland is determined to go one better and record a clean sweep in 2025.
Bull Sharks v Gold Coast Titans at Nissan Arena
Last time they met
Rd 9 2024 at Carrara
Bull Sharks lost 61-43
We were not at full strength for that game with a number of the athletes sick and our captain Harriet Nicholson out with an injury. The girls played well in the first half and were only down by three at half time. We had a lapse in the third quarter where to the credit of the Titans they gained momentum, and we just couldn’t recover.
The opposition
Matches against the Titans are always fiercely contested. Both squads have welcomed new faces, which adds a fresh dynamic to an already intense rivalry.
The challenge
Known for their physicality, the Titans will bring a hard-hitting style of play. Our focus will be on sticking to our structures, staying composed, and playing our game. Titans are coming off two consecutive wins, so they’ll be carrying confidence.
Shuffling the magnets
No changes to the lineup at this stage.
One to watch
Mahlia Henare has been pivotal for us in the midcourt, seamlessly linking our defensive end to the attack. Last week she recorded 18 assists, 31 feeds, one intercept, and three deflections. It was a huge performance considering we played the day after she won the four day Queensland Representative School Sport championship. Mahlia was named MVP for both her team and the entire tournament and was also selected for the Queensland School Girls team.
The focus
Embrace the challenge, stay connected, and remain true to our brand of netball. Control what we can control and back ourselves in every moment.
The final word
Games against the Titans are always physical and intense. We're looking forward to the contest and the opportunity to continue building as a team.
