Bull Sharks advance to third consecutive grand final

Bull Sharks celebrate try

The Bull Sharks Premier Women have advanced to a third consecutive Queensland Premier Rugby Grand Final by thumping Sunnybank while Colts 1 pushed into the second week with a minor semi-final victory over Easts.

Premier Women

Major semi-final.

Bond v Sunnybank at GPS Rugby Union Club

Bull Sharks won 57-19.

Where it was won:

Across the entire park from 1 to 23, in attack, defence and set piece the girls were dominant.

The highlight:

Eva Karpani with her trademark grubber kick in behind the line to score under the posts.

What made you happy:

The effort put in from the entire squad, we are a very close-knit team, it was very pleasing to see them all connect and play for each other, the result is a product of that.

The work to do:

There is plenty of work to do as we are always looking to improve. We will definitely celebrate the performance but there is still a job to be done.

Trademark player:

There were many who stepped up, it is hard to go past the performances of Wallaroos Eva Karpani and Mel Wilks, they are crucial to our success. But it is the players like Paris Mohr who stepped into the loosehead prop position and dominated scrum time and Evie Sampson who stepped into flyhalf like a seasoned vet of the game and controlled the team well who were most pleasing.

With Shannon Symon.

Colts 1

Semi-final.

Bond v Easts at Sunnybank Rugby Club

Bull Sharks won 29-14.

Where it was won:

Nick Hilton
Nick Hilton

Our game management was spot on. We knew that if we kicked deep, it would cause Easts a few problems. Man of the match Cal Simpson trouble Easts throughout the game with his big boot.

The highlight:

Our first try to Hunter Robinson. It was a great set piece followed up by a strong finish to score under the post. It was a set play we worked on during the week.

What made you happy:

It was our consistent work rate across the team right to the end of the game. We saved two tries by holding them up over the line which reflected our work rate and desire to scramble and get back.

Bull Shark Footy:

Strong work up front again from our big boys and finished off by a nice try  from Nick Hilton.

The work to do:

Get the boys prepared and ready for a great opportunity.

Trademark player:

Nick Hilton up front with his big runs, Cal Simpson had a hand in a couple of tries and that big boot.

With Rico Gear.
