The Bull Sharkโ€™s 74-point win over QAFLW newcomers, Moreton Bay saw an AFLW edge with Sydney Swans player, Ruby Sargent-Wilson playing a game for her home club.

Sargent-Wilson, a Riewoldt AFL Excellence Scholar, was the first player to sign with the Sydney Swans as an AFLW player in their first year in the competition in 2022.

The Bachelor of Sports Management student has been training at Bond over the AFLW offseason whilst completing her degree.

โ€œI really enjoyed pulling on the Bond jumper again,โ€ she said.

โ€œIโ€™ve been back training with the team since moving up from Sydney to complete my university degree in January.

โ€œThe girls and staff are so welcoming, which makes coming back to the club so special.โ€

Bond Director of AFL and womenโ€™s coach, Andy Lovell said Sargent-Wilson bought a class edge to Saturdayโ€™s match.

โ€œRuby was unreal on Saturday, her class and ball use was elite, and so was her running power,โ€ Lovell said.

โ€œShe played really, really well. She trained with us all summer, so she connected well with the girls, played her role in the team and was really discipline and connected.โ€

Sargent-Wilson will head back to Sydney to commence her pre-season training ahead of what will be her fourth season with the Sydney Swans.

โ€œI am grateful for the team and coaching staff in allowing me to continue my training regime under Bondโ€™s quality standards, and equally grateful to be a part of a club that hold such high values in all aspects,โ€ Sargent-Wilson said.

โ€œI wish them the best for their season ahead and will be cheering them on all the way from Sydney.โ€
