The program prepares students for work in diverse educational contexts. Our graduates teach English as a Second/Additional Language at all levels, from primary to tertiary, across the globe. In Australia, the program is designed to meet the teaching standard of ELICOS, university language institutes and other language teaching colleges. Our graduates also find employment in areas where the knowledge about languages and cultures is highly valued including other pedagogical careers as well as politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and drama.

Bond University’s teaching methodology involves a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, examinations, projects, presentations, assignments, computer labs and industry projects.
Part-time flexible options are available.
As part of the MA TESOL Online program, students are required to complete a practical teaching component of at least six (6) hours of supervised and evaluated teaching. Students are required to source a suitably qualified supervising teacher in their home country who can evaluate their practice in an English language teaching setting. Students must complete a portfolio of tasks which are to be submitted to the course lecturer along with a recording of their sessions. The Practicum is a component of the subject Professional Practice in Language Teaching (LING71-102)

The below fees are based on an average per semester cost, fees may vary based on which subjects are selected and the number of subjects enrolled in for each semester:
- 2019 fees: $9,040 per semester (based on 4 subjects per semester)
- 2020 fees: $9,360 per semester (based on 4 subjects per semester)
When considering the fees associated with your studies, keep in mind that Bond’s accelerated schedule means you can finish your degree sooner and be out in the workforce up to a year earlier than if you went to another university.
This time saving also represents a substantial reduction in accommodation and living costs, plus a full year of extra earnings.
- Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent in education, language, linguistics, applied linguistics or language related disciplines at an approved institution; or
- Recognised qualification in teacher education; or hold an undergraduate degree, plus a certification in TESOL OR a minimum five years experience in teaching English.

Additional minimum requirements
Students require either a PC, Mac desktop or laptop computer with PDF reader installed. Microsoft office is desirable but not essential.
Access to a webcam, speakers and microphone are essential. A headset device (mic & headphones) is recommended but not essential. Please note that many computers may have these built in already, please check with your supplier before purchasing additional items.
Mobile devices like Android and Apple devices have Applications (apps) for you to download for online study; these have limited operation and may not be suitable for some tutorials.
English language proficiency requirements
As tuition is delivered in English, all students will be required to provide documented evidence of the required level of proficiency in the English language. Read more detailed information on English Language Proficiency Requirements for university study.
Credit for prior study
Subject credits may be awarded for previous studies. To apply for credits, you will need to submit academic transcripts including detailed subject outlines/course descriptions for each relevant subject and/or certified copies of testamurs to the Office of Future Students.
