Win your Future Unlimited finalists arrive at Bond

Seven international finalists in the Win your Future Unlimited competition, an international competition for students to win a year’s study in Australia, today arrived on the Gold Coast to visit Bond University as part of their two-week study tour.

“This competition is a wonderful opportunity for the finalists to visit Australia and experience the excellent, unparalleled facilities we have to offer here at Bond,” John McPartland, Director International at Bond University said.

”One of the seven is set to win a major prize of a year of study in Australia and we are excited to be involved as one of the campaign partners and participating universities.”

The Win your Future Unlimited competition, an Australian Government initiative led by Austrade, asked prospective international students to design digital postcards about their future, explaining how an Australian education could take them there. The competition asked them to describe their educational and career aspirations in 50 words or less.

The seven finalists were selected from a pool of 31,000 entries from over 180 countries. They are: Abigail Engleman from the USA, Mark Gil Caparros from the Philippines, Minh Nguyen from Vietnam, Yaroslava Vasina from Russia, Uttam Kumar from India, Juliana Soares dos Reis from Brazil, and Aditya Nur Patria from Indonesia.

During their two-week, coast-to-coast study tour, they will visit tertiary institutions across the country, giving presentations and undergoing further assessment. The judges will then select the major prize winner who will receive one year of study in Australia in 2014, including flights, tuition, accommodation, a stipend, an internship and more.

“The study tour will give the finalists an opportunity to decide which institution they want to attend and we’re hoping it will be Bond University as we are Australia’s highest rating university for educational experience,” Mr McPartland said.

“Our small class numbers enabling personalised attention, combined with the quality of our teaching staff, international student base and  world-class facilities here on the beautiful Gold Coast make Bond a very attractive proposition for our international student guests.”

The competition is supported by five major sponsors: Educational Testing Services (ETS), National Australia Bank, Qantas, Telstra and The University of New South Wales, as well as 21 of Australia’s tertiary education and training providers.
