Bull Sharks brace for Hornets nest

Bull Sharks

Our QAFLW Bull Sharks were back on top last weekend against Broadbeach - a much-needed confidence boost. Our QFA boys claimed a big win in the mud against Robina to further consolidate their spot at the top of the ladder.

Bull Sharks v Aspley Hornets

The Opposition: We beat Aspley in our first head-to-head with them, but they had a fair few of their better plays out. They've now got them back, so they'll be a tougher test this week. They play their home ground well, so we will have to be at our best to win.

Shuffling the Magnets: Skye Emery is out of our Seniors team so that will make way for Milly Ella to come in. We are keen to keep things pretty consistent, so we're trying not to change things too much.

Ones to watch: Tegan Williams is a key forward; she's two games back from injury and really starting show some form and class. Kendra Blattman has been knocking on the door of kicking a bag full of goals; she kicked another three on the weekend and looks dangerous. Millar Brosnanball has also been outstanding. Shannon Nolan had 40 possessions and two goals and was best on ground last week, so really looking for her to lead the charge in the midfield.

Focus: We were really good at getting the ball from inside the contest to outside, and it looks like it's going to be a dry day on a dry deck. So, looking to increase our rate of run-and-carry because it's hard to do when it's wet and heavy.

Final Word: We just need to keep winning at this time of the year. We need to maintain our form and maybe tweak our offence to score a little bit more.

Bull Sharks v Coolangatta

Opposition: This week, we head south again to Coolangatta to play them at their home venue. In a quirk of the draw, it’s the second time we have played them at their home venue in less than a month. We came away with the win on that occasion in what were horrible conditions, so we are hoping for a fast, dry deck this time around to ply our trade and get our running game going. They will pose a significant challenge as they always do at home.

Shuffling the Magnets: Once again, we may have up to five changes to the team’s lineup. We have lost a couple of players to injury and will have a few back from SUNS commitments, which are big inclusions. We will go in with a strong outfit ready for whatever comes our way.

Ones to Watch: Interested to see the continued form of the likes of Ollie-Burrows-Cheng, along with young Will Baillieu and Jed Kowald, who add real steel to our contest work across the ground.

Bull Sharks

Focus: Our focus all week and going into the game has centred on getting everything right and sharpening up after a frustrating week. With poor ground conditions and, at times, a lack of care in execution and goal efficiency, this week we will need to be on point in all areas to beat a well-prepared, well-coached team in Coolangatta.

Final Word: We should and will go in confident, although cautious of an opposition out for redemption after a few losses to us over the last year. I’m sure they still have some scars from last year's Grand Final loss to us and would love nothing more than knocking us over this week. Our boys will make sure this doesn’t happen.
