Bond University has appointed practicing Paediatrician, Professor Peter Jones as the new Head of the School of Medicine.

Professor Jones will commence his position on May 3 and brings a wealth of experience in both the academic and clinical fields of medicine to the role.

Excited about the potential of an inclusive, holistic teaching experience, Professor Jones’ long term goal is to see Bond recognised as one of the truly best places to study medicine.

“My focus is on an all round excellent experience for the medical students while they are at Bond,” said Professor Jones.

“I am looking forward to working in conjunction with the Dean and Faculty to build on our reputation and establish Bond as one of the best places, both nationally and internationally to study medicine.”

“No medical school is yet to develop the type of bedside teaching, workplace based assessment and competency based clinical curriculum that the School of Medicine at Bond University is striving to achieve.”

Professor Jones brings strategic and operational leadership in the fields of research, program development and engagement with the wider clinical community to the position.

“My overall goal is to ensure a productive, cooperative and dynamic environment within the School so that we can attract and retain the best staff and students,” said Professor Jones.

“I am looking forward to starting next week and welcoming personally the next cohort of medical students to Bond.”

Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine Dean, Professor Richard Hays, believes that Professor Jones will be a tremendous asset to the School of Medicine.

“The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine is very pleased that Professor Jones has accepted the appointment as Head of School of Medicine,” said Professor Hays.

“He brings a great wealth of experience to the role and I look forward to working with him.”
