Bond University has appointed Mr Ken Richardson to the newly created role of Executive Director – People, Planning and Strategy.
Mr Richardson brings with him to the role more than 15 years’ experience in the Australian higher education sector.
He joins Bond from the University of Queensland (UQ), where he has been Director of Planning for the past four years, with responsibility for strategic and operational planning.
Having previously worked in research management for UQ, in 2008 he sat on the Indicator Development Group for the Australian Government’s Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) research assessment exercise.
Mr Richardson said he was excited to be joining Bond University.
“Higher education is changing and students are looking for new ways of learning that are more flexible and better matched to their individual experience and requirements,” said Mr Richardson.
“In Australia, we are increasingly seeing calls for a more diverse sector where a greater range of institutions and educational opportunities will provide more possibilities for more people.
“Bond is uniquely positioned to respond to these challenges by building on its already strong reputation for delivering an excellent learning experience that is student-focussed and industry relevant,” he said.
Bond University Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Brailsford said the appointment of Mr Richardson is pivotal to Bond’s commitment to building a stronger culture of data-driven decision making.
“Mr Richardson’s extensive experience and leadership qualities will ensure the decisions which shape our future direction here at Bond are well informed and effectively implemented,” said Professor Brailsford.
“He brings with him to the role a deep understanding of the higher education sector and complex university environment, which is complimented by his expertise in policy and compliance issues with both the State and Commonwealth Governments.
“We look forward to welcoming him to the Bond community,” said Professor Brailsford.
He will commence as Bond University’s Executive Director of People, Planning and Strategy on November 19, 2012.
