Bond Professor Receives Inaugural Distinguished Service Award

Gold Coast District Law Association (GCDLA) President Ross Lee presented Kathy Atkins with the inaugural Distinguished Service Award in honour of her commitment to the advancement of Gold Coast lawyers and the legal profession.

Kathy accepted the award at the GCDLA’s Annual General Meeting on June 18, whilst also celebrating her 25th year as a solicitor.

With 15 years of dedication to the Association, Kathy is the longest serving committee member. She served as Secretary for several years, and for the past 14 years Kathy has headed the family law sub-committee. In this role she attends the Case Management Meetings held by the Judge Administrator of the Family Court of Australia in Brisbane, where she represents Gold Coast family lawyers by raising concerns and issues on their behalf.

Kathy considers the recognition a great honour, being the first ever recipient of the award.
