Bond forms Sports Management Industry Advisory Board

The Bond University Sports Management program has recently formed its Industry Advisory Board, which includes some of the top professionals in the Australian sporting industry.

Committee Chairman, Associate Professor Danny O’Brien was delighted with the outcome of the inaugural meeting, held at the end of last year.  “The vision in the formation of this Board is to ensure we deliver the best student learning outcomes,” he said.  “We are privileged to have members on the Board who are vastly experienced in the management of sport and represent the diversity of the sports sector.”

Two board members, Fiona De Jong, Director of Sport for the Australian Olympic Committee and Matt Burgess, Director of Burgess Sport and Entertainment Law are also alumni of Bond University.  “It’s great to see Bondies giving back!”  said Danny.

Members of the board include internal and external stakeholders from both public and private sectors, and professional disciplines which have an affinity with the Sport Management program’s educational interests and aspirations.

“Some individuals on our Board already have an established relationship with the Sports Management program by way of hosting student internships, participating in lectures or providing ongoing advice and consultation.  By also becoming members of the Board, we will have ongoing expert industry and professional advice on the strategic direction of the program with all members contributing to the advancement of the industry as a whole.

We also appreciate that these in-demand professionals are dedicating their time to Bond, and their willingness to travel from around Australia to contribute to our program.”
