At the recent Australian Institute of Project Managers Queensland Achievement Awards conducted in Brisbane, Mr Ben Rayward was awarded Project Manager of the Year. Mr Rayward is a member of the Academic Advisory Panel of Bond University’s Institute of Sustainable Development and Architecture, and will now journey to Melbourne in October 2012 to participate in the National Awards.
“Successful projects are not delivered by an individual and I would like to thank all of the great people I have had the pleasure of working with over the past 12 months” he said.
Mr Rayward is a Principal at Point Project Management and maintains an ongoing involvement with the Australian Institute of Project Management as a Certified Practising Project Director and Engineers Australia as a Certified Practising Engineer.
He has worked on major infrastructure projects for the Australian Department of Defence and the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. More recently Mr Rayward was the Project Manager responsible for the establishment of a Project Delivery Framework and Program Management for the largest superannuation fund in Papua New Guinea - Nambawan Super Limited. In addition, he has been managing projects for Blue Care, AngliCare and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Corporation.
Mr Rayward has invested in progressing his learning and continued professional development through undertaking further tertiary studies while working full time. “I firmly believe that professional excellence is achieved through a balanced combination of ‘on the job’ practical experience supported by a robust understanding of theory” he said.
“It is my focus to assist in raising project management standards across the profession and I understand the adoption of standards is directly linked to the quality of project managers” he said.
Mr Rayward is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with future project management leaders. At the Institute of Sustainable Development and Architecture, he has worked directly with students on capstone projects, where students consult with industry representatives to develop, implement and report on current industry projects.
